University Connections
Preparing to transfer to a four-year institution can be one of the most exciting aspects of your college experience. Because each institution has a unique process and unique degree programs, it is important to keep in touch with an academic advisor every semester to make sure all your courses are transferable.
STEP 1: Meet with an Academic Advisor
Academic advisors are ready to help you create your MAP (My Articulation Plan) to help you choose the appropriate courses that fit your degree program or major of choice. Whether you would like to see what the upcoming semester looks like, or you would like to plan for the next year, or the next two years, it is important that you meet with an Academic Advisor to ensure that all the courses you plan to take are on track with your chosen institution and degree plan.
Get advised early! Avoid the long lines at the advising center by getting advised at least one month before registration begins.
STEP 2: Find a college or university that is right for you
Finding the right institution that fits your personality, values, and goals is very important. It is never too early to start doing some research on where you would like to transfer to. An Academic Advisor can help provide some insight as to what degree programs are offered at certain institutions, but ultimately, only you can decide which college or university is best for you.
Some things to think about when shopping around for colleges and universities:
1. Do they offer the degree program I am interested in?
2. Have I visited the campus? Do I feel comfortable there?
3. What is the cost of attendance (including Tuition and Feeds and Housing)?
4. Does that institution have an Articulation Agreement with Blinn College? See four-year institutions participating in Articulation Agreements with Blinn College below.
STEP 3: Set an Admissions Application Timeline
While you research colleges and universities that are you interested in transferring to, it is important to keep a critical eye out for admissions deadlines. Every college and university will have different admissions deadlines and different admissions requirements. Become familiar with those requirements to allow yourself enough time to submit all your required documents in a timely manner. Although most colleges and universities in Texas use the Texas Common Application as an admissions application, not all do. Verify with an admissions counselor at your chosen college or university regarding the required admissions application.
Other important deadlines to consider include Financial Aid Deadlines for your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), Housing deadlines if you plan to live on campus, and Scholarship deadlines if the school you are transferring to offers scholarships to transfer students.

Current and prospective Blinn College students intending to transfer to any of the universities listed below may benefit from reviewing the links noted below. Each university link will reveal a list of 2+2 degree programs that define the transfer and placement of Blinn College courses within specific “majors” and degree plans of the selected institution. Blinn College and the specific university have signed formal articulation agreements to confirm the accuracy of each plan.
