Blinn College Alert System

How Blinn Alert Works

The Blinn Alert System allows the college to rapidly communicate important, campus-related emergency notifications to students, faculty and staff by sending text/voice messages and e-mail. The system is active and ready for use, but it is only as good as the contact information it contains. In order to send you emergency text messages and other alerts, you must provide your contact information.

How to Register for Blinn Alert

Your Blinn Alert information is confidential and will not be shared. You can register in seconds or update your current information. See instructions below for students, faculty and staff.
         

Instructions for Students

  1. Log into myBLINN.
  2. Click on the Personal Information icon.
  3. Click on “Update Addresses and Phones”.
  4. To update your existing Blinn Alert information, click on the “Blinn Alert” entry.  If there is no “Blinn Alert” entry, you can add your information by choosing “Blinn Alert” in the drop down menu and then clicking submit.
  5. To receive a Blinn Alert as a text message, add (or change) an entry for the Text Phone number.  To receive a Blinn Alert as a cell phone call, add (or change) an entry for Cell Phone number.  Click submit to save changes.

You have now completed updating your information for the Blinn Alert System. If you have any questions e-mail them to blinn.alerts@blinn.edu.


 

Instructions for Faculty and Staff

  1. Log into myBLINN.
  2. Click on the Banner Self-Service Banner icon.
  3. Click on Personal Information.
  4. Click on “Update Addresses and Phones”.
  5. To update your existing Blinn Alert information, click on the “Blinn Alert” entry.  If there is no “Blinn Alert” entry, you can add your information by choosing “Blinn Alert” in the drop down menu and then clicking submit.
  6. To receive a Blinn Alert as a text message, add (or change) an entry for the Text Phone number.  To receive a Blinn Alert as a cell phone call, add (or change) an entry for Cell Phone number.  To receive a Blinn Alert to your home phone, add (or change) an entry for Permanent Residence Phone number.  Click submit to save changes.
  7. You can also receive Blinn Alerts to an e-mail address other than your Blinn work e-mail.  To do that, click on “Update E-mail Addresses” from the Personal Information menu.
  8. Add (or change) the entry for Blinn Alert Alternate e-mail.  Click submit to save.
