Objectives
- Record a movie
- Add text
- Publish movie
Summary
Create movies that show how to perform a certain action on the computer. Captivate automatically makes a screen capture of everything you do. This lesson will show you how to record a Captivate movie, add text to it, and publish it for viewing.

Recording a Movie

- Select “Full screen”
- Click “OK”
- Click “Record” when you are ready to capture the action on the screen
- You will be asked if you wish to test the audio levels. We will skip that for this lesson. Click “No.”

- The program will countdown from 3 to 1. After 1, Captivate will start recording. Begin the actions that you want recorded in the final movie.
- When you are finished recording, click on the Macromedia Captivate icon at the bottom of the screen
 
- Click “No” in order to end the Capture session

- You will be taken to a screen of thumbnails. Each thumbnail indicates the beginning of a “scene” that you captured. It will look something like this:

Adding Text to a Slide
Adding text to a slide helps the viewer of your movie to understand exactly what you are doing
- Double click on any thumbnail to open a slide. The thumbnail will now be in full view.
- Click on “Insert” in the toolbar.
- Scroll down to “Text Caption” and click on it.

- This open a “Text caption” dialog box, where you can edit the message, Caption type (color and appearance of the text bubble), font type, size, and color
- Click “Apply” and then “OK” when you are finished typing your message

- The new text box appears on the screen (usually a “chat bubble,” depending on the Caption type you selected. The box might not be in the exact place you want it at first.

- Click and drag the box in order to move it anywhere you want on the screen

- Repeat this for any other slides to which you want to add text.

Publishing a movie
- Click “Publish” in the toolbar.
- You can select the movie title, the folder in which to publish, and the format of the movie. Let us publish it in a Flash (SWF) format.
- Click “Publish”

- Your file is now published. Click “View output” to see your movie playing in an Internet browser.
