Admissions

Admissions requirements vary depending on visa status. Please select your category from the list below to see what documents are needed for admission.


F-1 Student Visa Category

New Student

Students who do not currently have a visa. Applicants applying from their home country typically fall into this category.

1. Blinn College Application (Apply Texas)

2. Confirmation of Financial Resources

3. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Scores must be sent directly from ETS; student copies will not be accepted. To have scores sent directly to Blinn use institution code 6043 (Blinn College- Brenham).

• Internet-based (IBT): 61 or higher
• Computer-based (CBT): 173 or higher
• Paper-based (PBT): 500 or higher

4. a. Entering Freshmen: Final official high school transcript and Certified English Translation.
or
b. University Student: Official university transcript and Certified English Translation.

5. $200 Non-Refundable Application Fee Paid by check drawn on a United States bank or by
Money Order. Please make all checks and money orders payable to “Blinn College.”

6. Copy of Passport Biography page which includes picture and date of birth information.

8.  F-1 students who apply to attend the Brenham Campus must have an on-campus room assignment before their I-20 can be issued.  For information on how to apply for housing please see the housing website at: http://www.blinn.edu/housing/index.html.  If you have applied to the Brenham campus and wish to live off-campus you will need to notify the international coordinator on the Brenham campus where you plan to live.

Transfer Student

Students who are currently enrolled at another U.S. institution and have a valid F-1 student visa.

1. Blinn College Application (Apply Texas)

After all items are received and you have been accepted into Blinn College a Transfer-In Form and Acceptance Letter will be sent to you. You and your current international advisor will fill it out so that your current SEVIS record and I-20 may be properly transferred to Blinn College.”

Other Visa Categories

F-2 Visa

F-2 visa holders are not authorized to study in academic programs. All F-2 visa holders who wish to study at Blinn College are required to change to an F-1 student visa. Please review the application requirements for new F-1 students. Once your application file is complete, an international advisor will assist you in applying for a change of visa. Please note that it takes 3-4 months to have your change of visa status approved, so the application process must be started well in advance of the semester you wish to begin your studies.

**Due to an increased number of various applications, Blinn College has received notice that change of visa applicants should expect longer than usual processing times. While it is unknown how long processing will take, applicants should prepare for at least 3-6 months. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to begin the admissions process well in advance of the semester start date.

J-2 and H-4

1. Blinn College Application (Apply Texas)

• I-94 Departure Card
• DS-2019 (for J-2 applicants) or Letter Verifying Employment of H-1 visa holder (for H-4 applicants)

5. Social Security Cards If applicable
