Head Athletic Trainer - Kris Kapchinski

Kristopher Kapchinski is in his first year as Head Athletic Trainer for the Buccaneers. He coordinates with the coaches from every sport in order to keep athletes safe and competitive. He works with doctors from a variety of specialties in order to satisfy the health concerns of the Blinn College Athletic population.
He earned a master’s degree in exercise physiology from McNeese State University in May 2006. At McNeese State he worked with Jim Murphy and Dr. David Drez, both of whom are highly regarded in the sports medicine profession. Kapchinski supervised men’s basketball while assisting with football and baseball. He was also a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Kilgore College. While at Kilgore College, the football team won the conference championship and played in the Pilgrim’s Pride Bowl.
He received his undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M University in May 2004. At Texas A&M he worked with football, baseball, tennis, volleyball and track. Kapchinski has served as the sports medicine coordinator for the USA Track and Field Junior Nationals meet and the Texas State 7-on-7 tournament.
He is the trainer for Blinn’s six intercollegiate athletic teams and coordinates a staff of student trainers, filmers and managers. He teaches First Aid in addition to Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries during the semester.
He is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Texas, is a National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board Certified Athletic Trainer and is CPR/AED certified.
He is married to the former Jessica Slataper, who was an All- American softball pitcher at Texas A&M. She is a teacher and gives softball pitching lessons. They have a daughter, Jenny, who is 1.
A graduate of A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Kapchinski is the son of Texas A&M head athletic trainer Karl Kapchinski. His mother is formerly a medical transcriptionist and his brother Kyle makes Knee braces with the Donjoy Corporation.
