Blinn Volleyball Wins Two in Final Day of Tournament
The Blinn College Volleyball Team won its final two matches at the San Jacinto College Invitational defeating Temple College and host and #6 ranked San Jacinto College.
The Bucs defeated Temple College 25-13, 25-18, 26-28, 25-16 in the opening game. Blinn was led by Shelby Dickson with 15 kills, 11 digs, and four blocks. Ksenia Sukhareva added 9 kills and Preslie Alexander had 8 kills. Setter Jackie Gerig dished out 42 assits and Kalli Mikulik had 15 digs.
In the playoffs the Buccaneers defeated #6 San Jacinto College 25-18, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20. The Bucs were led by Ksenia Sukhareva with 19 kills, Shelby Dickson with 14 kills and Courtni Bauer added 10 kills. Jackie Gerig again led the offense with 49 assists. The defense was led by Kalli Mikulik who had 29 digs and Courtni Bauer who added 8 blocks.
With the two wins #3 ranked Blinn College improves to 20-0 on the season and face #18 ranked Navarro College Tuesday at home, the match begins at 6pm.

Lady Bucs Defeat Wharton
The Blinn College Volleyball team won its 18th match of the season to remain undefeated on the season. The 3rd ranked Buccaneers won 25-11, 25-14, 25-22 over Wharton County Junior College. The Bucs were led by a host of players with Ksenia Sukhareva adding 11kills, Chelsea Soto 7 kills, Shelby Dickson, Vladislava Kopanarova, and Tracee Hamacher all having 6 kills. Kelsey Schwartz led the team in assists with 22 and Jackie Gerig adding 16. The defense was led by a pair of blockers with Preslie Alexander and Courtni Bauer stuffing 3 blocks each. Libero Kalli Mikulik led the team in digs with 13.

Lady Bucs Win Again
The Blinn College Volleyball team defeated Texas Western College in a three game sweep 25-12, 25-17, 25-14 in day one of the San Jacinto College Invitational. The Bucs were led by Ksenia Sukhareva with 11 kills and Vladislava Kopanarova with 8 kills. Jackie Gerig and Kelsey Schwartz dished out 20 and 14 assists respectivley. Kalii Mikulik and Shelby Dickson led the defense with 20 and 14 assists respectivley.
The Buccaneers (17-0, 2-0) face Wharton County Junior College at 5:30pm.

Lady Bucs Win Second Conference Match
The Blinn College Volleyball team traveled over 300 miles to play its second conference match of the season to face off against #13 ranked Paris Junior College. The Bucs walked away with a four set victory 25-17, 23-25, 25-13, 25-20 to remain undefeated on the season (16-0, 2-0). The Bucs were led by a balanced attack with four Bucs in double digit kills; Chelsea Soto 14 kills, Shelbly Dickson 12 kills, Preslie Alexander 10 kills, and Ksenia Sukhareva 10 kills. Jackie Gerig dished out 50 assists leading the Bucs to a .385 hitting percentage. Kalli Mikulik led the defense with 15 digs and Chelsea Soto had 5 blocks with Alexander and Courtni Bauer adding 3 blocks.
The #3 ranked Buccaneers travel to Houston to play at the San Jacinto Invitational where it will face Western Texas tomorrow morning afternoon at 12:30 and Wharton County Junior College at 5:00pm.

Blinn climbs to No. 3 in latest NJCAA volleyball poll
BRENHAM - The Blinn College volleyball team climbed one spot to No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Top 20 National Poll released today.
The Buccaneers are 15-0 on the season, with recent wins over Lon Morris College, Frank Phillips College, Jefferson College and a four game win over then No. 3 ranked Salt Lake Community College (25-19, 19-25, 25-15, 25-13).
Blinn features two setters who rank nationally with over 10 assists each per set. Kelsey Schwartz (SO, Brenham) is No. 3 with 10.73 assists per set and Jackie Gerig (SO, Normal Community, IL) is No. 4 with 10.67. Gerig is also second in the nation in hitting efficiency (64%).
The Bucs next travel to face No. 13 Paris Junior College on Thursday, then will participate in the San Jacinto Tournament in Pasadena Sept. 16-17.

The Blinn College Volleyball Team won their conference opener and their 15th match in a row versus Lon Morris (25-15, 25-17, 25-19). The Buccaneers were led by Shelby Dickson with 11 kills, six digs, and 3 blocks and Preslie Alexander with 6 kills and 8 blocks. Setter Jackie Gerig had 21 assists and Tracee Hamacher led the team in digs with 9.
Blinn plays their second conference match versus 12th ranked Paris Junior College on Thursday in Paris.

Volleyball Sweeps Patriot's Day Tournament
In the first match of the Woodlands Wave Buccaneer Volleyball Classic, the Blinn College Bucs swept Lon Morris College 25-10, 25-13, 25-21. The Bucs were led by Chelsea Soto and Ksenia Sukhavera with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Jackie Gerig's 21 assists led the Bucs and Kalli Mikulik led the defense with 16 digs.
The Buccaneers (11-0) plays their second game of the day versus Frank Phillips College at 7pm.

The Buccaneers defeated Lon Morris College earlier this morning. The Bucs were led by Ksenia Sukhareva who had 15 kills, 3 aces and 5 digs. Setter Jackie Gerig had 21 assists and Libero Kalli Mikulik had 17 digs.
The Buccaneers (12-0) play tomorrow at 11am versus Jefferson College (MO) and Salt Lake Community College (UT) at 4pm.

In the Jefferson College match, the Bucs were led by Chelsea Soto with 9 kills, Shelby Dickson 8 kills, and Ksenia Sukhareva with 7 kills. Setters Jackie Gerig and Kelsey Schwartz dished out 20 and 13 assists respectively.
Against #3 Salt Lake the Buccaneers were led by Ksenia Sukhareva with 17 kills hitting .500 for the match and Chelsea Soto who added 15 kills. Jackie Gerig added 47 assists. The defense was led by Kalli Mikulik with 25 digs, Preslie Alexander with 5 blocks and Soto with 4 blocks.
The #4 ranked Bucs improve to 14-0 and return home Tuesday to open Region XIV conference play versus Lon Morris College.

Blinn climbs to No. 4 in first regular season NJCAA volleyball poll
BRENHAM - The Blinn College volleyball team moved up two spots to No. 4 in the first regular season NJCAA Top 20 National Poll released today. It marks the third consecutive season the Buccaneers have been ranked in the top five in the opening regular season poll.
The Buccaneers are 10-0 on the season, with wins over then No. 8 ranked Midland College and No. 14 Temple College, and wins over current No. 9 ranked San Jacinto College and No. 20 Navarro College.
Blinn is led by sophomore setter Jackie Gerig (Normal Community, IL), who is second in the nation in hitting efficiency (65%) and ninth in assists with 9.86 per set, and sophomore outside hitter Preslie Alexander (Ronald Reagan, Texas State), who is second in the nation in blocks with 1.67 per set.
The Buccaneers will be in the Woodlands this weekend participating in the Woodlands Wave/Buccaneer Patriot’s Day Tournament.

The Blinn College Volleyball team won its 10th straight match with a 3-1 win over Wharton County Junior College (25-13, 25-14, 21-25, 25-10). The Bucs were led by Chelsea Soto with 15 kills, Shelby Dickson with 10, Courtni Bauer with 9, and Ksenia Sukhareva with 8. Setters Jackie Gehrig and Kelsey Schwartz added 33 and 24 assists respectively. 5 players had at least 7 digs and Chelsea Soto added 5 blocks and Preslie Alexander added 4. Blinn had 18 blocks on the night. The Buccaneers return to action Friday at the Woodlands Wave Patriot's Day Classic.

Blinn Volleyball Improves to 7-0
In the final match of the day the Blinn College Buccaneer Volleyball team defeated Wharton County Junior College 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 to improve their record to 7-0. The Bucs were led by Chelsea Soto with 8 kills, Shelby Dickson with 7 kills and Ksenia Sukhareva also with 7. Setter Jackie Gerig dished out 21 assists and Kalli Mikulik and Sukhareva added 6 digs. Chelsea Soto and Preslie Alexander led the team in blocks with 4 each.
The Buccaneers are taking part in its Labor Day Classic with concludes tomorrow with two matches tomorrow vs. #14 ranked Temple College at 1 pm and #9 ranked and National Runner-Up San Jacinto College at 5pm.

Blinn Volleyball Remains Undefeated
The Blinn College Volleyball Team improved its overall record to 6-0 with a win versus Hill College. The 25-12, 25-18, 25-22 win was a part of the annual Labor Day Classic hosted by Blinn College. Sophomore Middle Blocker Courtni Bauer led the Bucs in offense with 9 kills and Ksenia Sukhareva added 7 kills. Setter Kelsey Schwartz had 17 assists and Kalli Mikulik and Sukhareva added 9 digs each.
The #6 ranked Bucs return to action at 7pm to face Wharton County Junior College.

Blinn Volleyball Wins Home Opener
The Blinn College Volleyball Team won its home opener versus Hill College 25-15, 25-15, 25-14 in front of a packed gym. The Buccaneer offense was led by Shelby Dickson with 12 kills, Chelsea Soto with 7 kills, and Jackie Gerig with 20 assists. The defense was led by Kalli Mikulik with 15 digs and Paige Hamilton with 10. Preslie Alexander had 4 blocks.
Blinn Volleyball (5-0) returns to action this weekend when it hosts its annual Labor Day Classic. The Buccaneers will face Hill College on Friday at 1pm at and Wharton at 7pm. The tournament continues Saturday with the Bucs playing at 1pm vs. Temple and 5pm vs. San Jacinto College

Blinn Volleyball Sweeps Tournament
The 2011 Blinn College Volleyball team won all four matches of the Midland College Kickoff Classic. The tournament field included three teams ranked in the top 15 of the preseason poll. After opening days sweeps of #14 Temple College and Lee College the Buccaneers played Navarro College and won 20-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-11. The Bucs were led by Shelby Dickson with 13 kills, Setter Jackie Gehrig's 41 assists, Paige Hamiltonwith 2 aces and Preslie Alexander with 8 blocks.
In the final match of the tournament the Bucs swept host and #8 ranked Midland College 25-15, 25-13, 25-22. Chelsea Soto and Tracee Hamacher led the Bucs offense with 8 kills and Setter Kelsey Schwartz added 33 assists. Kalli Mikulik led the defense with 14 digs and Chelsea Soto added 5 blocks.

Blinn Volleyball ranked No. 6 in NJCAA Preseason Poll
The Blinn College volleyball team starts the 2011 season ranked No. 6 in the NJCAA preseason poll released this week by the NJCAA national office. Other Region XIV teams in the Top 25 Poll are San Jacinto College-Central (No. 14) and Panola College (No. 23).
This marks the eighth time since 2003 that the Buccaneers will enter the season as a top 10 team in the NJCAA poll. In 2008, the Buccaneers won the program’s first national championship, finishing the season with a 33-2 overall record.
The Buccaneers are coming off a 33-7 season and a seventh place finish in the 16-team NJCAA National Tournament. It was the program’s seventh trip to the national tournament under head Coach David Rehr, who has amassed an impressive 276-35 record and winning percentage (.886) in his eight years at Blinn. Rehr is joined this season by first year assistant coach Jessica Weynand, who was a standout volleyball player for the Brenham Cubs and at Texas State University.
Blinn opens the season on the road Aug. 27-28 at the Midland College Tournament in Midland. The Buccaneers will play their first regular season home game on Aug. 30 vs. Hill College, then host their annual Labor Day Classic Sept. 3-4 at the Blinn Gym.
Blinn Volleyball Final Spring Tournament
The Blinn College Volleyball team ends its Spring season this weekend at the 2011 Rice University Spring Tournament. Blinn will face four NCAA Division I schools with games against host Rice University, Texas State University, Sam Houston State University, and Texas A&M University.
Blinn returns nine players from its 2010 season which finished with a 32-7 season and a #5 ranking.

Texas State Spring Tournament 2011
Blinn College Volleyball is currently amid its Spring season. Having played at Sam Houston State University on March 11, the Buccaneers travel to Texas State University Saturday April 9th to face Texas Lutheran, host Texas State University, St. Edwards University and Angelo State University (schedule attached). The Buccaneer volleyball team then travels to Rice University on Saturday April 16th, where teams scheduled to participate are Rice University, Texas A&M University, Stephen F. Austin, Lamar, Sam Houston State and Texas State.
Blinn College Volleyball is coming off a 2010 season with a 32-7 overall record, a Region XIV Championship and seventh appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament. The Buccaneers return nine players from last year’s team.
