Blinn Volleyball ranked 7th in NJCAA poll

The Blinn College volleyball team continues its tradition of top 10 rankings with the number 7 spot on the NJCAA preseason poll released this week.

Blinn opens the season on the road Aug. 27-28 at the Texas Tornadoes Tournament in Houston. The Buccaneers will then host their annual Labor Day Classic Sept. 3-4.

The Bucs went 29-4 last season and earned their seventh straight trip to the Region XIV tournament. Blinn won its first ever volleyball national championship in 2008.

Head coach David Rehr logged his 300th career win last season and was the National Junior College Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 2008. He is joined by former player, Renee Johnson, as his assistant. Johnson earned All-American honors as an outside hitter for Blinn (2004, 2005) before finishing her playing career at the University of Georgia.

Blinn added a third national title in 2006 following a perfect 12-0 season. The Buccaneers compete in football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball. Complementing the athletic teams are the Blinn Cheerleaders, the Buccaneer Treasures Dance Team and the Blinn College Marching Band. All athletic teams are located on the Brenham campus.
