Jeter, Schwarz, Winkelman named Louisville Slugger/NFCA NJCAA All-Americans

Blinn College Buccaneer shortstop Caley Jeter and outfielder Hannah Schwarz were named All-Americans by the National Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association. Both made the 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA NJCAA Division I All-America First Team. Pitcher Carlee Winkelman (25-8) was named to the Third Team. The Lady Bucs finished fourth at the national tournament with a record of 56-11.

Jeter led the team with six triples and 80 runs scored as she hit .498 on the season. She also registered 13 doubles, 41 RBI and 27 stolen bases. Schwarz earned the Lady Bucs’ best batting average at .538 scoring 64 runs with a double, three triples, 26 RBI and 29 stolen bases.

Blinn Softball lands 5 on All-Region Team

The honors continue for the Blinn College softball team after a fourth place finish at the national tournament. In the Midwest region, Blinn (56-11) led the way with five players selected to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA NJCAA Division I All-Region team. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association named sophomore pitcher Carlee Winkelmann (Brenham), sophomore shortstop Caley Jeter (Huntsville), freshman outfielder Hannah Schwarz (Kerrville Tivy) to the First Team. Making the Second Team were freshman pitcher and first baseman Lindsey Brown (Spring) and sophomore outfielder Tiffany Galletti (Alvin).

Blinn captures Region XIV title; heads to NJCAA Tournament

The Blinn College softball team advanced to the NJCAA Championship Tournament by defeating Paris Junior College to win the Region XIV Softball Tournament. It will be the Lady Bucs’ third trip to the NJCAA National Tournament in six years with their best finish being national runner-up in 2003. The Lady Bucs are 53-9 and ranked seventh in the NJCAA poll. The national tournament in St. George's, UT, begins on May 14. 

The Lady Bucs defeated Paris 10-2 in a six-inning run rule victory on Sunday to win the tournament in Corsicana. Blinn scored two runs early in the first inning only to have Paris answer in the top of the third. In the bottom of the third, Lindsey Brown regained the lead for the Lady Bucs with a two-run homerun. Missy Siegel added a solo homerun and Brown tacked on an RBI single in the fourth inning to improve the lead to 6-1. Blinn survived a one-out, bases-loaded fifth inning giving up only one run on a sacrifice hit. In the sixth inning, the Lady Bucs put the game away with two RBI singles each from Roxanne Rodriguez and Kelley King. Carlee Winklemann won her third consecutive game of the tournament pitching 17 innings over three days.

Blinn opened the regional tournament with a 1-0 victory over Galveston College on Friday and defeated Paris Junior College 8-4 in the semifinals on Saturday.

Blinn Softball ends regular season at No. 7

The Blinn College softball team enters the Region XIV tournament ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA poll with a record of 50-9. With a 26-6 record in conference play, the Lady Bucs are the top seed and have a first-round bye. They will open tournament play at 11:30 a.m. on Friday against the winner of the Navarro College-Galveston College game. The tournament runs through Saturday at Navarro College in Corsicana.

Blinn Softball Sweeps Way to Conference Title

The Blinn College softball team heads into the Region XIV South Championship as the top seed ending the regular season with a commanding sweep of Lamar State-Port Arthur. In the first game, the Lady Bucs blanked Lamar State 9-0 in 6 innings. Carlee Winklemann (21-6, 10-5) pitched the shutout as Roxanne Rodriguez went three for four and Lindsey Brown stroked a two-run homerun. In the second game, the Lady Bucs managed a 13-2 rout in five innings. Brown (19-3,11-1) pitched for the win as well as adding runs on offense. She hit a two-run homerun and Allison Hinton matched the feat. Blinn improved to 50-9 overall and 26-6 to claim the Region XIV South Championship. The Region XIV Tournament begins April 30 at Navarro College.

Blinn Softball Sweeps Galveston

In the final games of the season ,the Blinn College softball team swept Region XIV foe Galveston College.  Blinn dropped Galveston 3-1 behind the pitching of freshman Lindsey Brown (18-3, 10-1). Game two saw Blinn's bats come alive in a 10-5 win. Allison Hinton hit a solo homerun and Lindsey Brown added a three-run shot in the sixth inning. Sophomore Carlee Winkelmann (20-6, 9-5) registered the win. The Lady Bucs keep alive their hopes of a number one seed in the upcoming Region XIV Tournament with a record of 48-9, 24-6 in conference play.

 

Blinn Softball Splits Doubleheader with Texarkana

The Blinn College softball team split a home doubleheader with Texarkana College. The Lady Bucs avenged the 1-2 loss in the first geam with a 5-4 win in game two. In the second game, the Lady Bucs were led by freshman pitcher Lindsey Brown who improved to 17-3 on the season and 9-1 in conference play. The team enhanced its overall record to 46-9 and 21-6 in Region XIV play. The Lady Bucs return to action at home on Wednesday against Galveston College.

Blinn College softball team beat Bossier Parish

The Blinn College softball team beat Bossier Parish 8-6 and 4-1 in a doubleheader on Sunday. Missy Siegel hit a three-run home run in the first game, and sophomore Carlee Winklemann (19-5) was the winning pitcher. In the second game, freshman Lindsey Brown was the winning pitcher and helped her own cause with a homer. The Lady Bucs are 45-8 overall and 21-5 in Region XIV play.

Winklemann Wins Two as Lady Bucs Sweep

The Blinn College softball team defeated Angelina College in a doubleheader on the road. In the first game, Blinn won 2-0 with Carlee Winkelmann pitching the shutout. Winkelmann (18-5, 7-4) pitched in relief to get the 8-5 win in the nightcap 8-5. The Lady Bucs improve their record to 19-5 in Region XIV play and 43-8 overall.

Blinn Softball maintains ranking

The Blinn College softball team held at No. 9 in the latest NJCAA poll with a record of 41-8, 17-5 in Region XIV play.
The Lady Bucs play a doubleheader today at Angelina College in Lufkin. They return home on Saturday for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. against Texarkana College.

Blinn Softball Wins 40th and 41st Game of the season

Kirsten SheddThe Blinn College softball team defeated Lamar State-Port Arthur in a doubleheader at Hohlt Park in Brenham. With the sweep, the Lady Bucs collected their 40th and 41st wins on the season (41-8 overall and 17-5 in Region XIV play). In the first game, Blinn blanked Lamar State 11-0 in five innings. Freshman sensation Lindsey Brown was the winning pitcher (15-3, 7-1) In the second game, Blinn won 12-6 with Kirsten Shedd pitching (10-0, 5-0). Brown went from winning the first game of the day to adding a homerun in the second.

Lady Bucs Softball Roll Again

The ninth-ranked Blinn College softball team swept its third consecutive opponent with a doubleheader win overAlvin Community College. The Bucs defeated  Alvin 2-0 in the first game behind the pitching of freshman Lindsey Brown (14-3, 6-1). The second game went to extra innings in Alvin with Blinn winning  4-3. Sophmore pitcher Carlee Winkelmann (16-5, 5-4) pitched all eight innings . The Lady Bucs improve to 15-5 in Region XIV play and 39-8 overall.

Blinn Softball Cruises Past Angelina

The Blinn College softball team defeated Region XIV foe Angelina College in a doubleheader at Hohlt Park. It was the #6 Lady Bucs' fourth consecutive run rule victory.  In the opening game, Blinn dropped Angelina 10-2 in five innings. Sophomore pitcher Carlee Winkelmann won her 15th game (15-5, 4-4) and sophomore outfielder Tiffani Galletti spurred the offense with a three-run homerun. In the second game, Blinn won 9-1 in six innings. Kristen Shedd remained undefeated on the season (9-0, 3-0). With the sweep, Blinn's record moves to an impressive 37-8 overall and 13-5 in Region XIV play.

Blinn Softball Sweep Lon Morris

The sixth-ranked Blinn College softball team got back to its winning ways with a doubleheader sweep of Lon Morris College in Brenham. Blinn won the first game 9-1 in five innings with Lindsey Brown (13-3, 6-1) pitching for the win. In the second game, the result was very similar with the Lady Bucs dropping Lon Morris 10-2 in six innings. Kristen Shedd improved her record to 8-0, 2-0 in conference. Hannah Swartz was the offensive leader for Blinn going three for three in each game. With the sweep Blinn College's record becomes 35-8 overall and 11-5 in Region XIV play. The Lady Bucs return to action at 3 p.m. on Monday against Angelina College in a makeup game.

Blinn Softball Falls to San Jac

The Blinn College softball team dropped a pair of games to San Jacinto College 1-2 and 4-5. Blinn's record is 33-8 overall and 9-5 in Region XIV play. The Lady Bucs are ranked sixth nationally.

Blinn Softball #6 for 2nd week

Blinn College softball held its position this week as the sixth best team in the country. The latest NJCAA poll has Blinn as the only ranked Region XIV team. The Lady Bucs are 33-6 on the year, 9-3 in the region.

Blinn Softball Slays Dragons

The sixth-ranked Blinn College softball team swept Paris Junior College in a doubleheader on the road. In the opener, the Lady Bucs dropped the Lady Dragons 9-0 in five innings. Freshman sensation Lindsey Brown won her twelfth game of the season and sophomore catcher Missy Siegel hit a three-run homer. In the second game, Blinn defeated Paris 7-4. Sophomore pitcher Carlee Winkelmann (13-4) won her first game in the last four outings and Brown hit a three-run homer. Blinn College is 7-3 in Region XIV play and 31-6 overall. The Bucs will play a rescheduled game at Texarkana College on Monday.

Today’s NJCAA poll has the Blinn softball team ranked 6th nationally.

Blinn's record is 29-6, 5-3 in Region XIV play. Next up is a doubleheader  in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday against Northeast Texas Community College followed on Sunday by a doubleheader at Paris Junior College.

Blinn Softball Splits with Galveston

The Blinn College softball team split its third consecutive series with a win and a loss to Galveston College. In the first game, #4 Blinn dropped #13 Galveston 7-5. Freshman Lindsey Brown (11-2) was the winning pitcher and she also hit a homerun. Britni Wells and Tiffany Galletti added homeruns of their own to secure the victory. In the second game, Blinn fell 4-7 despite Brown, Wells and Galletti hitting their second homeruns of the day. Blinn's record moves to 5-3 in Region XIV play and 29-6 overall. Next up is a doubleheader  in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday against Northeast Texas Community College followed on Sunday by a doubleheader at Paris Junior College.

Blinn Softball Splits on the Road

The Blinn College softball team split a doubleheader with Region XIV foe Navarro College in Corsicanna. In the first game, the Lady Bucs fell 6-7. Sophomore pitcher Carlee Winkelmann (12-3) dropped her second consecutive game. In game two, Blinn run ruled Navarro 9-1 in six innings. Freshman pitcher Lindsey Brown improved to 10-2 on the season. Blinn moves to 4-2 in Region XIV play and 28-5 overall.

Blinn, San Jac split double-header

The #4 Blinn College softball team hosted defending Region XIV champion and ninth-ranked San Jacinto College. In the first game, the Lady Bucs fell 1-4, but in the second game the offense came to life. Blinn scored eight runs to win 8-3. The Lady Bucs were led by freshman Lindsey Brown who pitched for the win and also added two hits. The Lady Bucs are now 27-4 overall and 3-1 in Region XIV play.

Blinn Softball Travels to Alabama for 2 Wins

The Blinn College Softball team traveled nearly 800 miles to play in the Wallace State- Hanceville Softball Tournament in Hanceville, Alabama. The Lady Bucs played two games on the opening day of the tournament. In game one Blinn defeated Pensacola Community College 3-2, Carlee Winkelmann (11-1) was the winning pitcher.

The Lady Bucs defeated Snead State in the second game 6-1, Kristen Shedd (6-0) was the winning pitcher. Carlee Jeter went 3 for 4 to lead the offense. Blinn College is now 24-2 on the season and continues play tomorrow at 9:30am.

Blinn Softball Wins Region Opener

The Blinn College Softball team won its 22nd game of the season against Region XIV foe Alvin Community College. In the doubleheader Blinn dropped Alvin 3-0 in the first game with Carlee Winkelmann (10-1) pitching the shutout win. In the second game the Lady Bucs won with a game winning RBI by Lindsey Brown in the seventh inning, pulling away with a 8-7 win. Kirsten Shedd (5-0) was the winning pitcher in relief. Blinn is currently 22-2 on the season and 2-0 in Region XIV play.

Blinn Softball Hammers Coastal Bend

The Blinn College Softball team dropped Coastal Bend College in a double header at Hohlt Park. The Lady Bucs won 13-0 in 5 innings in the first game. Sophomore shortstop Caley Jeter went 4 for 4 with 4 runs batted in. Kirsten Shedd (4-0) was the winning pitcher. In the second game the Lady Bucs again run ruled Coastal Bend with a 14-3 win in 5 innings. Freshman catcher Britini Wells went 3 for 4 with 5 runs batted in including a three run homerun. Carlee Winkleman (9-1) was the winning pitcher.

Blinn Softball Sweeps Final Day of Tourney

The Blinn College Softball team took the long trip to the Permian Basin of Texas but it all seems to be worth while. In the Midland College Invitational the Lady Bucs defeated Western Texas College 16-3 in five innings. Lindsey Brown (7-1) was the winning pitcher. In the final game of the tournament Blinn defeated El Paso Community College 8-0 in six innings. Carlee Winkelmann improved to 8-1with the win. Lindsey brown continued her hot bat hitting two two-run homeruns. The Lady Bucs improve to 18-2 overall and defeated four of its five opponents this weekend by run rule.

Brown Leads Blinn Softball in First Day of Tourney

The Blinn College Softball team is continuing it's exciting 2009 season at the Midland College Invitational Tournament. The Lady Bucs played three games in day one. Blinn College defeated Trinidad State College 9-1 in the opening game in six innings. Kirsten Shedd (3-0) was the winning pitcher. In game two the Lady Bucs run ruled their second oponent with a 11-1 win versus Howard College, in five innings. Lindsey Brown (6-1) was the winning pitcher and she also helped her own cause hitting a three run homerun. Freshman Britni Wells also added a homerun. In the third and final game of the day Blinn defeated Otero Community College 6-4. Carlee Winkelmann improves to 7-1 on the season. After trailing 2-1 in the 6th inning, Tiffany Galletti hits a three run double followed by a two run home run by Lindsey Brown, her second on the day. Blinn College is now 16-2 on the season and will continue play tommorrow at 9am and 2pm.

Britni Wells leads Blinn Softball to Win

In the final day of the Blinn College Softball Invitational the Lady Buc Softball team started the day as it left off. The Lady Bucs defeated Iowa Western Community College 5-3. Carlee Winklemann was the winning pitcher. In the second game of the day the Lady Bucs again faced Iowa Western. A two run homerun tied the game for the Lady Bucs in the bottom of the sixth inning and a line drive single in the eighth won the game all by freshman third baseman Britini Wells. Lindsey Brown was the winning pitcher. The Lady Bucs improve to 13-2 on the season.

Blinn Softball Splits Day

The second day of the Blinn College Softball Tournament didn't bring the same fortune as the first. The Lady Bucs fell 3-4 to Seminole State College (OK). The Lady Bucs bounced back in the second game in a big way with a 10-5 win over Temple College.  Lindsey Brown (4-1) was the winning pitcher and added a 2 RBI double. Tiffany Galletti and Britni Wells added to the extra base hit totals with 2 RBI double and a 3 run homerun, respectivly. The Lady Bucs (11-2) end the weekend tournament tomorrow versus Iowa Western Community College at 11am and 1pm.

Blinn Softball Sweep First Day of Blinn Invite

In the opening day of the Blinn College Invitational the Lady Bucs Softball team walked off with a win over Temple College, 4-3 in 9 innings. The Lady Bucs took a 3-3 tie game into the ninth inning as Caley Jeter hit a bases loaded line drive into center to win the game. Brenham High School product Carlee Winlemann remains undefeated on the season at 5-0. In their second game of the day the Lady Bucs defeated the Iowa Western Community College Reiver's 3-2. Kirsten Shedd (2-0) was the winning pitcher.

Blinn Softball Sweeps Doubleheader

The Blinn College Softball team swept Hill College for the second time this season. The Lady Bucs won game one, 7-1. Carlee Winklemann (4-0) was the winning pitcher. In game two the Lady Bucs won 7-2. Lindsey Brown (3-1) was the winning pitcher and Britni Wells added a 3 run HR to break the tie game in the forth inning and put the Lady Bucs ahead for the game. The Lady Bucs will host the Blinn College Invitational this weekend with games begining Friday at 2pm continuing through Sunday.

Blinn Softball Splits Day Two of Tournament

The Blinn College Softball team split day two of the Galveston College Invitational. In the first game the Bucs defeated Howard College 3-1. Brenham High Scholl graduate Carlee Winkelmann (3-0) was the winning pitcher. In the second game Blinn fell to Temple College 5-7 in 8 innings. The Bucs are 6-1 on the season and make their home debut Wednesday, February 11 versus Hill College.

Buc Softball Remain Undefeated

The Blinn College Softball team remains undefeated at 5-0 through the first game of the Galveston College Invitational. The tournament is being played in Spring, TX due to the effects of Hurricane Ike. The Bucs defeated Seminole State College 8-7 in 8 innings, Carlee Winkelmann (2-0) was the winning pitcher. In game two  Blinn College defeated University of Houston-Victoria 7-3, Kirsten Shedd (1-0) was  the winning pitcher. In the final game of the day the Bucs defeated Western Texas College 2-0, Lindsey Brown (2-0) was the winning pitcher.

The tournament continues tomorrow as the Bucs face Howard College at 10am and Temple College at 2pm.

Blinn Softball Sweeps Hill

In the season opener for the Blinn College Softball team the Bucs swept Hill College in a doubleheader. In the first game the Bucs won 12-1 in 6 innings. Carlee Winkelmann was the winning pitcher. In game two the Bucs won 9-5 behind the pitching of Lindsey Brown. The Bucs are currently ranked #8 in the latest NJCAA Poll.

 

Blinn softball players earn All-American honors

Blinn Buccaneer sophomore pitcher Elena Crabtree (17-9) and freshman shortstop Caley Jeter were selected by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association to the All-American Third Team. Last month the NFCA placed Crabtree and Jeter on the All-Region (Midwest) First Team.

The Lady Bucs finished the year 39-14 and hosted the Region 14 tournament.

2003 Buc Softball Finishes as Runner Up in National Tournament.

News Release

As a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, the Buccaneers compete in the Region XIV Athletic Conference and the Southwest Junior College Football Conference. The Buccaneers compete in football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball. Complementing the athletic teams are the Blinn Cheerleaders, the Buccaneer Treasures Dance Team and the Blinn College Marching Band. All athletic teams are located on the Brenham campus.
