Head Football Coach Brad Franchione
Head coach Brad Franchione begins his third year directing the
Buccaneer program, his 12th in college football. His foundation
in the game has been built with input by his well-known father,
Dennis Franchione, head coach at Texas A&M University, but
his coaching philosophy and approach to the game have been constructed
by his own experience in college programs ranging from junior
college to NCAA Division I.
His last station before being named
head coach of the Buccaneers in January 2005 was as the defensive
line coach at Texas A&M
University - Commerce. In his one season with the Lions he
also served as the program’s academic coordinator, travel
coordinator and video coordinator. His recruiting assignment
was central
Texas and Kansas junior colleges, including Blinn. Additional
coaching experience has come at Bacone College in Muskogee,
Okla. (2003-2004), the University of Tennessee - Martin (2002),
the
University of West Alabama in Livingston (2001- 2002), East
Central University in Ada, Okla. (1999-2001) and Fort Scott
Community
College in Fort Scott, Kansas (1998). While in college he was
a graduate assistant with the offense from 1996-1998 at Arkansas
State University and a student coach assisting with the secondary
at the University of New Mexico (1992-1996).
At Bacone College
he was an associate head coach and defensive coordinator
while also serving as the recruiting coordinator,
helping lead the Warriors to a second-place finish in the
Central States Intercollegiate Football Conference. At Tennessee
-
Martin he was an assistant coach working with the linebackers
and the
coordinating recruiting. He was also the kickoff team coach.
For the Tigers of West Alabama he was an assistant coach
working with the linebackers. He was also punt and kickoff teams
coach.
While an assistant at East Central he was the defensive line
coach and recruiting coordinator for the Tigers, helping
lead the 2000 team to its first winning season since 1983. He
also
served as the team’s academic coordinator and the special
teams coordinator. His duties as an assistant at Fort Scott
included working with the quarterbacks as well as the punt
team and serving
as video coordinator.
Franchione was born in Joplin, Mo.,
graduated from Pittsburg (Kansas) High School, earned his
bachelor’s degree in physical
education at the University of New Mexico in 1996 and his
master of science degree in education at Arkansas State University
in
1998.
He and his wife, Rebecca, have a son, Wyatt, who is 3 and
a daughter, 18-month-old Isabella. His hobbies include golf,
racquetball,
weight training and computers.
Lloyd Spotted Wolf
Offensive Coordinator - Offensive Line
Coach Lloyd Spotted
Wolf joined the Blinn staff in 2006 to head up the offensive
line and this season rises to offensive
coordinator.
His experience includes Division I, II and
III, as well as high school programs. Before joining the Buccaneer
staff,
Spotted Wolf was the assistant head coach at NCAA D-II
Oklahoma
Panhandle
State University, where he had two linemen earn All-IFA
honors. In addition to his offensive line duties, he
was also the
recruiting coordinator, and a health, physical education
and recreation
instructor.
For the 2003-2004 seasons, Spotted Wolf returned
to his high school alma mater, La Cueva High School in Albuquerque,
N.M.,
as an assistant. During his two-year stint, La Cueva
won back-to-back 5A state football championships, amassing
a 26-0 record. He
was also a full-time English teacher.
Spotted Wolf
was the offensive line coach/special teams coordinator for
NCAA D-III University of Wisconsin-Eau
Claire, which
won the WIAC championship in 2001.
The Blugolds attained
a No. 11 national ranking, and Spotted Wolf coached two all-conference
linemen,
one
all-region
selection, and one All-American offensive lineman.
He was also an assistant
men’s and women’s track and field coach,
and a kinesiology lecturer.
Spotted Wolf spent
three years on Rocky Long’s staff at
the University of New Mexico (Division IA), working
with the offensive line. He worked with two Hula
Bowl selections (place
kicker and deep snapper) who both continued on
to the NFL, as well as two all-conference linemen
and two linemen who eventually
went on to the NFL.
He has also coached at NCAA
D-II Adams State College, Del Norte (Colo.) High
School and Zuni (N.M.) High
School.
He has a bachelor of science degree from
Adams State College, with a double major in English and
exercise
physiology,
and a master’s degree in sports administration
from the University of New Mexico. He was a four-year
letterman and three-year starter
on the offensive line for the NCAA D-II Grizzlies.
He was named Academic-All Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference.
Spotted Wolf is a member of the American
Football Coaches Association.
He is single.
Keith Browning
Defensive Line
Coach
Keith Browning moves from running backs coach to defensive line
coach in his third season on Coach Brad Franchione’s Buccaneer
staff.
Prior to coming to Blinn, he spent two years (2002-2004)
as a graduate assistant coaching the defensive line at Howard
Payne
University.
He holds a bachelor of science degree in business
administration with a minor in marketing management from Howard
Payne. A four-year
letterman for the Yellow Jackets, Browning was a first-team
all-American Southwest Conference selection and was named
Defensive Lineman
of the Year in the conference.
Browning has experience in
multiple areas in the Buc system. In 2005, his first year with
the Bucs, he coached the offensive
line and tight ends. Last year he coached the tight ends
and running backs, including all-American running back
Bernard Scott.
The Houston native is a graduate of South Houston
High School. He is single.
Tony Haynes
Quarterbacks - Receivers
Coach Tony Haynes, who comes to
the Buccaneers from Valdosta
State University
in Georgia,
will coach
the quarterbacks
and wide receivers.
Haynes, a
native of Lakeland, Fla., played wide receiver and
quarterback
at Webber
International University
in Babson Park,
Fla. In 2004, he was hired
on there as the Warriors’ quarterbacks
coach. The last two-and-half
years he coached at Valdosta
where he worked with the offensive
line and wide receivers.
Haynes
also coached quarterbacks at the high school level at
Santa Fe High
School
in Lakeland.
Matt Richardson
Running Backs
Coach Matt Richardson is
in his second season with
Coach
Brad
Franchione and the Buccaneer
and moves
from linebackers
coach
to running backs coach.
Prior
to coming to Blinn, Richardson spent two years
(2002- 2004)
as a student manager
working
with the
offensive line
and running
backs for the Arkansas
Razorbacks.
He holds
a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology
from
the University
of Arkansas
at Fayetteville.
He
and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for
three years.

Gabriel
Burks
Receivers
Coach Gabriel Burks
joined the Buccaneer
staff in
the spring
in his first
coaching position
and will
work
with the receivers.
The
graduate of Jack Yates High
School
in Houston
was an all-district
selection
in
football and
baseball. He
returns to Blinn where
he was a wide
receiver on the 1995 squad.
He moved on to
Howard Payne
University
where he
also played
wide
receiver.
He then
spent three years
playing semi-pro
football for
the Houston Wolverines.
Burks
has a bachelor’s degree in management
from the University
of Phoenix.
He and his wife
Miyosha have
five children.
