The Blinn College dance team and cheerleaders traveled to SMU in Dallas July 24-26 for the National Cheerleaders Association/National Dance Alliance camp. Both teams came home very tired and sore from all their hard work, but also came home with many awards and much recognition.
This year, the Blinn Dance Team came home with a second place finish behind McLennan Community College in their team camp dance. Tressa Chivington (San Marcos, TX) was selected as All American dancer at camp.
The Blinn College cheerleaders finished 3rd in their division for the game day routine and 2nd place for thier rally routine they were taught by camp staff. Nicole Allison (Cedar Park, TX), Kylie Farrell (Tomball, TX), and Reagan Hollier (Beaumont, TX) each received All American honors at camp.
Coach Karry Forsythe has two very young programs this year and it will be fun and exciting to see what they will be able to do for Blinn College.
The Blinn College Cheerleaders are an exciting group that cheers
at Blinn College athletic events, pep rallies, college and community
events, as well as at a number of special events. The members
of the squad are well respected on campus as student-athletes
striving to support the Blinn College athletic program.

Blinn Cheer & Dance Compete in Daytona Beach
The Blinn College Cheer Team finished its best season ever by placing second in national competition with its highest score ever. The team scored 9.152 out of a possible 10 on its final performance at the National Cheerleaders Association collegiate nationals April 9-10 in Daytona Beach, FL.
The cheerleaders finished third in the small coed division II category to move into finals. They had to overcome a major obstacle losing one of their teammates who went to the hospital immediately following the preliminary performance.
“Luckily, the team had an alternate that was able to perform on Friday,” Coach Karry Forsythe said. “They pulled together as one unit to really push through all of their changes.”

Blinn Dance Team and Cheerleaders garner national championship bids
The Blinn College dance team and cheerleaders earned bids to the national competition in Daytona Beach, FL, in the spring due to their outstanding performances at the National Cheerleaders Association/National Dance Alliance camp at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
The Blinn dance team finished second at the camp and was also highlighted in the NCA/NDA brochures for its national spring competitions, one of the few teams to receive the exposure. Carlynn Laurie of Katy, Kristen Carroll of Pearland, and J’nee Adams of Houston were selected as All American dancers. Laurie also won Top Gun Hip Hop dancer out of a field of more than 200 dancers.
The Blinn College cheerleaders won first in their division for the game day routine and the rally routine they were taught by camp staff, and were selected by the judges to perform their game day cheer at the awards ceremony on the final day. Katie King, team captain from Deer Park, Courtney Martinez and Malissa Johnson, both of Channelview, received All American honors.
Coach Karry Forsythe was pleased with the camp outcome not only in the way the teams competed, but in compliments from staff about her teams’ performances. “We have two amazing teams, and it will be fun and exciting to see what they will be able to do for Blinn College this year.”
