The Tryouts…

The Blinn Dance Team will host a number of tryout sessions each spring to assess the skills, abilities and potential of interested and qualified candidates for the dance team and positions.

Tryout sessions are intended to be low stress events. For that reason they are conducted in a practice-like environment during which the level of each candidate’s skills and talents, and their ability to work with current and prospective team members, will be evaluated. A short interview with the candidate may be conducted at anytime during the sessions.

We will have 3 open practices, and you may attend all three or just one. You will need to email Jamie Everett in order attend these sessions.

All practices and tryouts will be closed to the public.

Dates for 2010

•Wednesday, April 14, 1-3.
•Saturday, April 24, 9-12
•Friday, May 7, 5-10

Attire

Come ready to tryout. Candidates should wear sports bra and black pants/shorts of their choice. Bring both jazz shoes and tennis shoes. There will be an area for you to freshen up.

Getting Started…

• Incoming freshmen must have already applied to Blinn College for the Fall 2010 semester in order to try-out. Students cannot be admitted on any type of probation.

• Blinn College students must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average and be in good standing with the college. Students cannot be on any form of academic and or disciplinary probation.

• An application form (Word document), current transcript (does not have to be official), and picture must be turned in on the day of try-outs. A $30 registration fee is required. Please make checks payable to Blinn Dance Team Club and please do not send cash through the mail. (Do not have pictures made especially for this application packet. A snap shot will be fine.)

• A Medical Release Form signed by you and your parent.

• Two letters of recommendation

Common Questions and Answers

Will you narrow down the pool during the try-out?

Yes, if need be, I will be making cuts throughout the tryout sessions.

When will we find out who made the team? and How many people will make it?

Announcements will be made by May 8, and posted on the web site the following week.  We will have between 20-24 dance team members.

Can my family and friends watch the practice?

NO!

Where are the tryouts held? 

Heineke Gym Brenham Campus
