Blinn cheer team third at nationals, dance team finishes sixth
The Blinn College Cheer Team finished third and the Blinn Treasures
Dance Team came in sixth in their division at the National Cheerleaders
Association/National Dance Alliance Chick-fil-A National Collegiate
Championship April 6-7 in Dayton Beach, Fla.
This was the highest ranking ever for both squads at the national competition
that features both university and two-year college teams.
The University of Hawaii-Pacific took first place in both competitions.
“I’m very proud of our teams,” said teams coach Karry Forsythe. “I’m
even more pleased that they were a little disappointed with our finishes despite
it being the best we’ve ever done.
“It’s a subjective competition, we’re judged by individuals
who all have different tastes and are looking for different things, but we performed
our routine probably the best we ever have.”
The cheer team was one of 13 teams in its division, and the dance team was
one of 28 team.
“I look forward to coming back in future years and, hopefully, bringing
home national championships one day,” said Forsythe.
Both teams were also among 20 of the 200 teams at the competition who received
a “good sportsmanship” designation.
