Leroy Dreyer Field
Leroy Dreyer Field, built in 1988, is one of the finest baseball facilities in the state and among the top junior college complexes in the nation.
Besides being home to the Bucs, it has also been the site of the Texas-New Mexico Junior College Coaches Association all-star games, the Texas-New Mexico Junior College state baseball tournament, the Region 14 tournament and numerous Texas high school playoff games.
The dimensions of the natural turf field are: 325 foul lines, 355 power alleys and 375 straightaway center. Athletic field expert Floyd Perry rated the playing surface, in the summer of 2000, among the top 1 percent in all of college baseball.
The covered grandstand features seating for 665, a concession stand, rest rooms and air conditioned press box. The facility also houses home team training and locker rooms and coaches offices.
The field is named for the former Buc coach who retired in 1986 after 28 years at the helm. He compiled a 653-249 record and had five national tournament appearances. In 1991 he was inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Baseball Hall of Fame. In 1994 Dreyer retired as Blinn’s athletic director after holding the post for 35 years. His uniform number, No. 34, has been retired.
