Head Coach Harvey McIntyre

 

Blinn College assistant baseball coach Harvey McIntyre was named the new head baseball coach on July 23.

Coach McIntyre takes over the Buccaneers' program after seven years as the pitching coach for Brian Roper, who stepped down after eight seasons to take a full-time teaching position on the college's Bryan campus and to spend more time with his family.

The Bucs finished the 2007 campaign with a 37-18 record and finished third at the Region 14 Tournament.

Coach McIntyre, a Brenham native and 1995 graduate of Brenham High School, played for Coach Roper at Howard College in 1996-97.

Blinn was his first college coaching position after graduating from Northwestern State University in Louisiana with a bachelor’s degree in general studies. He played baseball two years for the Demons in 1998-99. He also played for the Alexandria Aces in the Texas-Louisiana Independent Baseball League during the summer of 1999. He received his master of education degree in health and physical education from Prairie View A&M University in 2005.

He is married to the former Reagan Robinson. They have a daughter, Emma.

 

Andy Harrington

andyHarringtonAndy Harrington is in his third year with the Buc baseball staff as a volunteer coach. He is also an economics instructor at Blinn.

The native of Duncanville graduated from Duncanville High School and played for Coach Brian Roper at Howard College before moving on for two years at Hardin-Simmons University.

He earned his bachelor of business administration and master of business administration degrees at Hardin-Simmons where he also served as a graduate assistant coach for one year.

Coach Harrington is single and has one brother, Logan, who is in the U.S. Navy.

His hobbies include reading, golf and watching movies.

His philosophy on baseball: “Pitch and play solid defense.

 

Russell Carter

Russell Carter begins his first season as an assistant with Buccaneers working with the catchers.

A native of Richardson, Coach Carter played college ball for Coach Tom Hager at Jamestown College in Jamestown, N.D., where the team won the 2004 regional championship and a berth in the NAIA World Series. Prior to his time at Jamestown, he spent two year at Southwestern University in Georgetown. His senior year at Jamestown he hit .397.

The former catcher spent two years as the pitching/catching coach at U.T. Dallas, was an assistant for the Edenton Steamers in the Coastal Plains Collegiate League and coached two years for USA Athlete International.

Coach Carter has a bachelor of arts degree in marketing from Jamestown College and a master of business administration in finance from U.T. Dallas.

His hobbies include golf, working out and music.

Troy Moock

Troy MoockTroy Moock is in his first year at Blinn College after serving as a volunteer assistant with the Northwestern State University Demons for two seasons under Mitch Gaspard, who is now an assistant coach at the University of Alabama.

At Northwestern, Moock coached the outfielders and at first base while organizing team travel and fundraising. His coaching career began at Blinn in 2005 where he served as the outfield coach and assisted with the Buccaneer hitters, while helping steer the Bucs into the regional tournament.

In his current role with the Bucs, Moock’s duties include working with the infielders and running the offense from the third base coach’s box. He also coordinates winter and summer camps for the Bucs as well as playing a major role in recruiting.

During the summers, Moock serves as the hitting and third base coach for the Vermont Mountaineers in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. His teams won back-to-back NECBL championships in 2006 and 2007, while his offenses led the league in batting average, on base percentage, hits and fielding percentages.

 

As a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, the Buccaneers compete in the Region XIV Athletic Conference and the Southwest Junior College Football Conference.The Buccaneers compete in football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball. Complementing the athletic teams are the Blinn Cheerleaders, the Buccaneer Treasures Dance Team and the Blinn College Marching Band. All athletic teams are located on the Brenham campus.
