Mr. David A. Corkran

Mr. Corkran was born in Galena Park, Texas, which is on the East side of Houston. He graduated with honors from Galena Park High School in 1980. He has also resided in Irving, Texas and Huntsville, Texas. He moved to College Station in 1987. Mr. Corkran enjoys playing Golf, Volleyball, Tennis, Softball/Baseball, Basketball, Soccer and any other sport that his daughters throw at him. David was a member of The Fighting Yellowjacket Baseball Team in High School which earned him a 3 year letter and All-District awards where he was also involved in football, basketball and track. Upon graduation he became a member of the San Jacinto North Gators Baseball Team in 1980/81. Mr. Corkran is married and has two children (girls) which keep him busy in his spare time with volleyball and basketball. During his spare time a few years ago he also received his Pilot's License. Mr. Corkran graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and a Minor in Business in 1992, and a Master's Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in teaching and coaching in 1994. He also has 117 hours towards an Electronic Engineering Degree.
Mr. Corkran joined Blinn in August 2006. He teaches First Aid, Drug Use and Abuse, Personal Health and Foundations of Kinesiology. In the Fall of 2008 he accepted a promotion to Assistant Division Chair and in the Fall of 2011 he was promoted to Division Chair. Mr. Corkran came from Montgomery College where he taught for two years teaching Basketball, Golf, First Aid, Personal Health, Fitness for Living, and Weight Training. Prior to that he taught at Blinn in the Spring and Fall of 1997 where he taught Bowling.
