Mr. Nix hails from Michigan, the Great Lakes State, where he grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. After a storied high school athletic career in football and track and field, he attended Western Michigan University on a football scholarship and also competed in track and field. His background in education and coaching began in Michigan public schools and very quickly gravitated to the collegiate ranks. Coaching stints as a graduate assistant, Head or Assistant coach of Women's Cross Country/Track and Field involved Eastern Michigan University, Iowa State University, and Texas A&M University. Mr. Nix has resided in Bryan, Texas since August 1979. He has taught for Blinn College since January 1990 and was selected as the Division Chair of Health and Kinesiology on the Bryan Campus in 1993. An avid motorcyclist (a Harley, is there another brand?), he has traveled extensively throughout the states, Canada and Mexico. Diving is another of his extensive list of things to do.
