Felice House holds a Master of Science in Visualization Art
from Texas A&M University and is also a B.F.A. in Painting
from the Nova Scotia College of Art and
Design in August of 2000. The MS in Visualization is an exciting
new degree in the arts which combines extensive knowledge of computer
science
and fine arts. Many MS in Visualization end up working for animation
companies in Hollywood.
While in college, Felice took part in shows from Nova Scotia,
to Ontario. Along with two other women, she started and ran the
NSCAD Student Art Store, a venue for students to sell their work
during Halifax’s bustling tourist season. She ended her time
in Canada with a solo show entitled “PUTTING IT ON…and
taking it off”. In this show she used painting, printmaking
and installation to exaggerate classical ideas of femininity to
the point of comedy. Each piece provided an in-depth look at the
way that society molds females’ expectations of themselves. “PUTTING
IT ON… and taking it off” was the embodiment of a budding
artistic vision for Felice, combining her favorite medium—the
portrait—and her favorite subjects—the exploration
of group dynamics and women’s issues.
In March of 2002, while finishing her masters at Texas A&M
University Felice coordinated and curated a flat work exhibition
of time-based animation and video pieces at the University of Houston's
Archive Gallery. Around that same time Felice started Housepaintings
Studio, an artists' space in downtown Bryan, Texas. Through the
studio Felice began to teach weekly drawing and painting classes
as well as weekend workshops.
Housepaintings continues to offer classes and studio space to
local artists and musicians and provides a venue for The Art Step,
a Bryan (Texas) biannual community art show.
Felice regularly exhibits her work in Austin, Fort Worth, Houston
and the Bryan/College Station area.
